I have no idea how we are already at Week 7 in the NFL season, but here we are already. At this point we have a pretty decent idea of what we can expect from our players, and as well as how each team’s defense is going to play from week to week. Of course, there are always exceptions, but barring more injuries we are no longer guessing in the dark. However, I know how you feel that every time you are setting your lineup there is always some indecision. When in doubt, check this out! We give you the guys that you should start and those you should be sitting for Week 7.
Fantasy Football Start/Sit: Week 7
Quarterbacks
Start: Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. San Francisco 49ers. Sure, Winston has one passing touchdown or fewer in three of his last four starts, but did you not see the schedule? He’s facing the 49ers! They can make a Division 3 college football offense look like the Greatest Show on Turf! Winston is set up to have one of his monster 300 yard/3 touchdown games, and he might run one in as well.
Sit: Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Minnesota Vikings. This impressive rookie finally looked mortal for the first time this season, and he is going to follow that with another really rough week as he faces the Minnesota Vikings. I’m not down on Wentz talent, but this Vikings season has just been impenetrable. Whether it is rushing the passer or the secondary shutting down receivers, it seems that it is going to take a team’s best effort to beat Minnesota. I still like Wentz, but I am expecting less than 225 yards and one touchdown at the most.
Running Backs
Start: Jacquizz Rodgers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. San Francisco 49ers. I know, I know, this one is kind of cheap. I’ve already used the Bucs for Winston, but holy crap the 49ers defense is terrible. They are yielding nearly 175 yards per game on the ground and an embarrassing nine rushing touchdowns through six weeks. Doug Martin isn’t going to play this week, and we already saw that Rodgers is prepared to carry the load. Look for him to easily pass the century mark and have a touchdown on Sunday.
Start: Dewayne Washington, Detroit Lions vs. Washington Redskins. Washington hasn’t played since Week 4, but he is on track to return this week. The Redskins have been deplorable against the run this season, allowing eight rushing touchdowns in five games. Washington looks to take control of the Lions running game which is in total disarray. They did sign Justin Forsett, but I still see Washington leading the rushing game and having a strong outing against the ‘Skins.
Sit: Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles. The Vikings are coming off of their bye, and the running back situation is still a bit unsettled. While McKinnon is still the more talented and dynamic back, Asiata still has a role for the goal line area. The Redskins ran all over the Eagles last week, but overall this season they have been very good against the ground attack. McKinnon might be tempting, but I think you will likely have a better option on your team.
RBs w/ lowest % of carries for positive yards:
Theo Riddick (68%)
Jerick McKinnon (72%)
C.J. Anderson (72%)
T.J. Yeldon (74%)— Scott Barrett (@ScottBarrettDFB) October 19, 2016
Sit: Terrence West, Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Jets. West has been a fantastic find for the Ravens running game after they came into the season with a huge question mark at the position. However, this was the third straight game that West had over 75 yards rushing, and has three touchdowns in the last three weeks. However, while the Jets have been a subpar pass defense, they have been very tough against the run (last week aside). And when a defense gets embarrassed like the Jets did on Monday, they come out hungry. New York is desperate for a win and will have to play tough. West could bring you value for the rest of the season, but I would look for another option in Week 7.
Wide Receivers
Start: Jamison Crowder, Washington Redskins vs. Detroit Lions. The Lions made Case Keenum look like Johnny Unitas last Sunday and crappy ass Kenny Britt went for well over 100 yards receiving. Any defense that gave up 300 passing yards to Case freaking Keenum should give up more than 300 to the Redskins as well, and right now Crowder is the most consistent receiver on the team. He has three touchdowns in six weeks, and is definitely someone that you, and Kirk Cousins can trust against an AWFUL Lions defense. Washington hasn’t had the strongest pass offense, but against Detroit everyone does well.
Start: Brandon LaFell, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns. LaFell has been making quite a name for himself over the past few weeks as he has solidified himself as the second receiver in Cincinnati who loves to throw the ball. He has three touchdowns in the last two weeks and welcomes in the Browns in Week 7. This should be an easy one for the Bengals, and LaFell should be able to top 80 receiving yards and a score on Sunday.
Sit: Emmanuel Sanders, Denver Broncos vs. Houston Texans. After getting off to a slow start, it has been a much better run in the last four weeks for Sanders. Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemien have progressed more than expected, and the passing game hasn’t been embarrassing. It is time to pump the brakes a little bit though in Week 7 as Denver faces off against a tough Texans defense who have been ultra stingy against pass offense this year, and even tougher to score through the air. If Denver is able to get one, I’m gonna say it goes to Demaryius Thomas and Sanders isn’t going to have more than 50 yards on the day.
Sit: Will Fuller, Houston Texans vs. Denver Broncos. I’ve been a big fan of Will Fuller this season, but this is another week where I think you probably have a better option. Brock Osweiler has certainly seemed to have regressed in the past couple of weeks, which isn’t helping the Texan pass game. And between Fuller’s hamstring injury that kept him on the sideline last week, and the really tough Denver defense, there must be someone better for you to plug in for Week 7.
Tight Ends
Start: Hunter Henry, San Diego Chagers vs. Atlanta Falcons. You’d think that Antonio Gates would be the lead tight end, but even now that he is healthy, Henry is still the top guy at the position. Henry has four straight games with over 50 receiving yards, and has scored in three straight games. Henry scored against one of the best defenses in Denver, so why wouldn’t he score against one of the worst in Atlanta? Look for Henry to near 100 yards and a score.
Sit: Coby Fleener, New Orleans Saints vs. Kansas City Chiefs. There are a few factors here working against Fleener after his good game in Week 6. First, the Saints are the same team on the road as they are in the dome at home. Second, the Chiefs are actually a pretty good defense against the pass, allowing less than 240 yards through the air per game. Finally, Fleener has been incredibly inconsistent, and it is a little farfetched to see him have two strong games in a row.
