Geez, this week was brutal for injuries! We saw players like AJ Green, LeSean McCoy, Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles and Zach Miller leave Week 11 with injuries and hopefully, it didn’t cost you a win this week. One man’s loss is another man’s gain however, as injuries have allowed a few players to be placed on this week’s Waiver Report who are going to be asked to step in for those injured teammates. Good luck!

Quarterback
Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers. Don’t look now, but Colin Kaepernick is entering the realm of being an every week fantasy player. He now has three consecutive weeks of scoring at least 23 fantasy points and he’s doing it both in the air and on the feet, which is helping him maintain a very high floor each week. Over the next five weeks he gets to play Miami, Chicago, the Jets, Atlanta and the Rams,so he also has a favorable schedule going forward throughout the season and fantasy playoffs. He is bordering into QB1 territory and if you are looking for a quarterback to keep on your roster rather than stream a different one every week, Kap is likely the best option out there.
Other Quarterbacks to Stream with Good Matchups this week:
Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions
Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins vs San Francisco 49ers
Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens vs Cincinnati Bengals
Running Back
Running back is a rather weak position this week, but I want to take this opportunity to stress that if you don’t own the handcuff for your top running back, with the playoffs right around the corner, now is the time to cover your behind and add them now. Players like Derrick Henry, Alfred Morris, and Mike Gillislee need to be owned if you own Demarco Murray, Ezekiel Elliott and LeSean McCoy. You made it this far and hopefully are in good shape to make the playoffs, so the last thing you want to see right now is an injury to your top back and have a fellow league-mate beat you to the waiver wire to add his handcuff.
Wendell Smallwood, Philadelphia Eagles. There was a slew of injuries on Sunday and the Eagles’ backfield was not exempt. Ryan Mathews suffered an injury to his MCL, while Darren Sproles fractured a rib. The status of both is up in the air for next week, but if either, or both, of them miss some time, rookie Wendell Smallwood could be in for a significant role. Unfortunately the Eagles don’t play until Monday, so it could make for some difficult roster decisions next week, but as of now, Smallwood is a must target if you own Sproles or Mathews, and he’s worth a roster spot in standard 12 team leagues until more is known about the injuries to the other Philadelphia running backs.
Dion Lewis, New England Patriots. While he didn’t see a huge workload in his first game back, it was encouraging to see Dion Lewis finally see the field in Week 11. He had five carries for 23 yards and another three receptions for 26 yards in a win against the 49ers this week. James White has played well in Lewis’ absence, so we can’t necessarily assume that Lewis will resume the same role he had held season before his injury, but he is definitely worth a roster spot in PPR leagues in case his role expands next week and going forward.
Other Running Backs to Consider: Mike Gillislee, Buffalo Bills. Kenneth Dixon, Baltimore Ravens.
Wide Receiver
Sammy Watkins, Buffalo Bills. Reports started surfacing on Sunday that there is a chance Bills wide receiver, Sammy Watkins could return as soon as Week 12 (this week). Head coach, Rex Ryan stated on Monday that he hopes Watkins can “Play some” this week, but regardless of if he plays or plays a big role this week, he is closer to returning than many, including myself, thought. He could be a difference maker for the playoffs, so if he gets in limited action this week and next, hopefully he could be a full-go for the fantasy playoffs in Weeks 14-16. Buffalo has a favorable schedule in those weeks as well, as they take on Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Miami. After hearing this news and seeing that he is only owned in 33% of teams on ESPN, Watkins is my top waiver wire target this week.
DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins. Talent vs opportunity. It was a hard call for me to determine where I wanted to place DeVante Parker and Tyler Boyd on my waiver report this week. Parker is the more physically, talented receiver of the two, but with AJ Green going down with a hamstring injury this week, the opportunity is there for Boyd to see a lot of action going forward. Ultimately, talent trumped opportunity as Parker has now had his second solid week in row as he posted eight receptions for 79 yards and a score against the Rams in Week 11. Last season he closed out the season strong and with San Francisco on the agenda this week, I can see him putting up another solid performance this week. Boyd is a nice consolation prize if you miss out on Parker, as he is a solid candidate to lead the Bengals in targets while AJ Green is sidelined, but I’m giving the slight edge to Parker based on his higher ceiling.
Other Wide Receivers to Consider: Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals. Tyreek Hill, Kansas City. Tajae Sharpe, Tennessee Titans. Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings. Brandon LaFell, Cincinnati Bengals.
Tight End
Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles. Zach Ertz had a very nice game this week as he hauled in six receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks. It would have been a huge week if it wasn’t for bone-headed receiver, Nelson Agholor who lined up improperly on the line of scrimmage and cost Ertz a second touchdown that would have been for over 50 yards. He now has 26 targets over his last three games and has become a huge part of the Eagles’ offense. Ertz is head and shoulders ahead of the other tight ends to consider in this weeks’ waiver report.
Other Tight Ends to Consider: Jared Cook, Green Bay Packers. Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hunter Henry, San Diego Chargers.
